Individual Counseling
I believe in the importance of an individualized approach to treatment that supports each person’s expressed needs. My clinical approach is drawn from training in trauma focused and attachment theories. Individuals come to therapy for a variety of different reasons, and it is my goal to listen and understand where you feel stuck. The relationship between client and therapist is one of the most important parts of successful treatment. Therefore I offer a free 15 minute consultation where we can discuss your goals and expectations, and I can provide information on my background. We can also address any questions you may have about the therapy process.
Intake Session
After our initial consultation, our first session will be a 50 minute intake appointment. This appointment allows us to expand upon our first conversation and to continue to get to know each other. During the first session, I will often ask questions to gather information about your current concerns and relevant history. At the end of our first appointment, you will have an opportunity to decide if you’d like to continue working together.
Future Sessions
What does ongoing therapy look like? There is not a one size fits all answer to this common question. Typically I meet with clients weekly for 50 minutes at the beginning of therapy. Consistent weekly sessions allows us more opportunity to work towards your goals and see progress. That being said, some clients need to meet more frequently or less frequently depending on their schedule. I will do my best to accommodate what works for you, while keeping in mind your therapeutic goals. The length of time we meet varies for each person as well. Some clients benefit from a few weeks of therapy and others continue for months to years.
